June Is National Homeownership Month
If you weren't aware that June is National Homeownership Month, then consider yourself informed.
The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) kicked off a new campaign this past week with the theme, "Find Your Place."
Ben Carson, the Secretary of HUD, said "Homeownership serves as an enduring symbol of security prosperity, and it provides many Americans with a legacy they can pass down to their children and grandchildren.
I couldn't agree more!
There are many reasons that people want to own a home. Many people enjoy the privacy of having your space that is solely their own or feel that they're putting the needs of their immediate family and children first.
One of the main reasons people want to own a home is simply for the financial investment that owning a home can bring to them. Owning a home is one of the best ways to increase your chances of growing your assets and long term wealth.
According to the latest statistics from HUD, the median wealth or net worth of a homeowner is nearly $200,000, or 36 times greater than that of the median renter who had just over $5000.
HUD also said that children of families who own their homes are more likely to graduate high school and earn more income later in life.
As you can see, there are numerous reasons that people would want to own a home, and everyone has their own specific ones. Whatever that reason may be for you, we want to help!
